AMY MAURIELLO, HEAD OF SCHOOL, has worked in education as a teacher and administrator for almost 20 years. Amy grew up in Pennsylvania where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education and worked as a corporate trainer for a software company. After moving to Florida in 2001, Amy became the Director of a local early learning center before returning to teaching for the Lee County School District and receiving her Master’s Degree in Education Leadership. Amy is married to her husband Anthony and has 3 children, Amelia, Alec and Andrew. Amy attends Turning Point Church in Bonita Springs where she volunteers with the youth group, worship team and hospitality team.
EMILY LOVEALL, ADMISSIONS DIRECTOR, brings her experience as a fifth grade teacher at a Christian school in Tampa and Director of Admissions at Covenant Theological Seminary to GCA. Emily is married to her high school sweetheart Matt and together they have 4 children, Andrew, Molly and Abigail, and Elizabeth. Emily serves in several areas at Oak River Church, where her husband is the pastor, where together, they lead a weekly small group.
ESTEE HENTGES, TEACHER, majored in Elementary Education at Southeastern University and completed her internship on Saipan, part of the Marianna Islands. Estee had several years of experience at Villas Elementary and Bonita Springs Elementary before joining the team at GCA. Estee met her husband playing Ultimate Frisbee. They have two children. Lucas and Sarianna. The family loves spending time together, especially at the beach.
ASHLEY PERRY, TEACHER, has been with GCA since its founding in 2014. She desires to aid her students in becoming responsible students, lifelong scholars, and most importantly, dedicated disciples of Jesus Christ. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in English (with secondary state certification), as well as a Master’s degree in Education. She and her husband attend the Fort Myers Seventh-Day Adventist Church and are privileged to be involved in teaching the
teens and organizing events on church history.
NANCY HOLLOWAY, TEACHER, has over 30 years of experience in public and private elementary education, including a school that follows the Christian, classical, hybrid model similar to the one at Grace Classical Academy. She earned her elementary education degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Nancy’s desire is to use God’s truth to make children want to passionately learn about His world. Nancy has four grown daughters, and three grandchildren. Spending time with her family gives her great joy.
KATHY HARTLEY, TEACHER, has taught for over 30 years as both a preschool and kindergarten teacher. Kathy has a degree from Ball State University and has furthered her education through classes at Edison College and FGCU. Kathy has extensive experience in curriculum development, managing after school activities, and training faculty members. Kathy is driven by the desire to teach, guide and encourage students to their highest potential. Kathy has lived in Bonita Springs for 30 years and loves spending time on the beach. Kathy was married for almost 25 years before being widowed. Kathy has two adult daughters and two grandbabies, Dawson and Dakota. She serves in the children’s ministry and is part of a weekly small group.
AMBER SMOOT, TEACHER, has an Associate’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in History and loves to share God’s story with others. She has a heart for God’s truth, missions, and discipleship, and can’t wait to teach her students how to live that out practically. Amber attends Summit Church, where she has served in many of the ministries, as well as yearly mission trips to the Dominican Republic. She currently is part of the leadership team for the Recovery ministry, attends a weekly small group, and participates in Young Professional gatherings throughout the month. Amber enjoys baking, playing volleyball and having game nights at her house.
MALIA ASTHAPPAN, Teacher, is a recent transplant to Florida. Having earned her Bachelor’s degree from Messiah College in Grantham, PA (her home state), she then began her career life as an Abstinence Education Director for the local pregnancy center. Married life took her and Jibey to Bethesda, MD, where she taught math at a small Christian school and then to New Jersey where she began her career as a homeschool mom of their three children, Kaiya, Carter and Kayli. She is so excited to have all three children enrolled at GCA this year. If you’re looking for the Asthappans on the weekend, you can most likely find them at Center Point church or at the beach!
