"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

A Message from our
Head of School

Cadia Parks

We hope that 2026 brings joy, growth, and many blessings to our GCA family. As we begin this new year, we encourage you to take time to reflect on all the wonderful things God has done in your life over the past year.
Here at GCA, we have seen incredible growth in both our students and staff, and we are deeply thankful for the family feel and close-knit community that make our school so special. As we look ahead, we are excited to see that community continue to grow as we prepare for enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year.
As we move forward in faith, we are reminded of this promise from God:
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3
We are grateful for each of you and look forward to all that God has in store for GCA in the year ahead.

Q: What is your go-to “teacher fuel” during the day?

My go-to teacher fuel is definitely coffee.  Whether it's Starbucks, Dunkin or homemade, every morning starts with coffee!

Q: If your current class had a mascot, what would it be?

Our classroom this year is space themed so a perfect mascot would be an astronaut.

Q: How have your favorite classroom tradition you love to do every year with your students?

One tradition I love is a project students do where they learn all about their names.  They find out the meaning, interesting facts and talk to their parents to find out why they were given that name.  Names are so important and I love fifth graders learning all about theirs!

Q: What’s one prayer you regularly pray for your students?

I regularly pray that God would help me and every student to say and do things that make Him proud.  I also pray that when we mess up, we would be quick to acknowledge our mistake and make it right!

Q: What does it mean to you to teach as an act of worship to God?

To me, this means that everything I do in the classroom should be done for the glory of God.  A great reminder of that is Colossians 3:17: "Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

Q: What is a favorite TV show or movie you could binge watch/ watch on repeat any day of the year?

I could watch the movie Sandlot any day of the week!  To me, this movie captures childhood perfectly.  It feels like summer and how summer felt as a child.  I love that the movie is about friendship, and there’s a character that everyone can relate to.

Q: If you could have any super-power just for teaching, what would it be?

I would want Ms. Frizzle’s superpower- to turn learning into an adventure with the magic school bus!   This way, I would be able to take my students inside human cells, to jungles, under the sea, into outer space, and anywhere else we could go!

Q: What is one habit or rhythm you’re hoping to grow this year?

Keeping a consistent rhythm of encouragement while also slowing down and enjoying the learning process.

Q: What do you love most about teaching at a classical Christian school?

There are so many things I love about teaching at GCA.  I love the freedom to slow down and connect learning to faith, virtue, and real life.  I love being part of a community that values wisdom, wonder and growing in Christ- not just academic success.  I love that learning at GCA is purposeful and joyful.  I think my favorite aspect about teaching here is that I get to teach the whole child.

Q: What Scripture verse is encouraging you this season?

The scripture verse that is encouraging me during this season is Proverbs 3:5-6- Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will make your paths straight.”

The ART Corner

Bradley and Sam share their Greek vases in 3rd grade.

Kindergartners worked together to create heart art in nature after studying the work of Andy Goldsworthy.

After an engaging discussion of Greek culture and the various styles of columns, third-graders learned how to etch their designs on vases using crayon and black paint.

First-grade students really enjoyed learning about Claude Monet and his water lilies. We learned many techniques in their art above, including studying how light affects the bridge and how lilies appear larger in the foreground.

Ms. Acs is looking forward to student art focused on love and hearts next month.
